Snap, Crackle and Pop

As a child, I loved pouring milk over my cereal just to listen to the snap, crackle and pop!  Didn't you, too?  In Wunderlich Park today, when I came across this path (in the photo above),  I felt like Alice going down the rabbit hole.

Like something out a Grimms' fairy tale!  I like being in the woods.  There's always something magical or spooky or romantic to be found.

Good idea to go for a walk today after the bike ride yesterday.  I was tight.   The hike allowed my body to go snap, crackle and pop.  Wonderful!  It was swell to do something different.

My favorite deeps-woods photos were in the Bergman film _Seventh Seal_. I was quite struck as a teenager at how truly menacing the forest looks in the movie. When the woods were chock-full of predators and the walks through them were long and unavoidable, passers-through viewed them quite differently from how we do today. Somehow the cinematography of _The Seventh Seal_ conveys the fear,as does _Virgin Spring_.
