The Girl in the Pigtails

"I know you! You're the girl in the pigtails who I saw yesterday on Sand Hill Road." And that is how today's bike ride turned into something quite unexpected.

The plan (I always have a plan that I generally ignore) was to bike Piedmont to Old Calaveras (pictured above) over to The Wall and Calaveras and then back to Felter and down Sierra.

I ended up walking the hardest part of Old Calaveras (the beginning). My calf muscles apparently were dead and I was already drenched in sweat.

Lookey what I saw on Old Calaveras -- these two rodents who thought they'd go after the big bird. It was hysterical watching the scene. I made it up the rest of the climb.

At Downing and Felter, I met these two guys ... and that's when the adventure began. Small world eh to run into someone who saw you biking the day before. They invited me to explore Marsh Road with them. It's on Felter, the next left after passing The Wall exit. Wow, what a fun road that leads nowhere. 2 miles mostly descending that leads you closer to the reservoir. The breeze felt wonderful. Of course the climb back didn't. The guys were swell and I may have recruited them to join the 2010 Low Key Hill Climbs!

Well, I think that this diet thing: Huge bowls of cereal, dozens of sandwiches, and such and such is far too many carbs, and the amount of unhealthy pasturized milk for the bowl of cereal in the morning really could put this person towards a diabetic state. People really need to understand the basics of science, which include monounsaturated, omega 3, and saturated fats in short and medium chain fatty acids.

Christine, you are such a socialite.

I went on a 7-mile run today and I tried to use the ball-of-the-foot-strike method discussed at Cafe Scientifique. I was planning to run for two hours, but 45 minutes into the run my calves were so sore that I decided to turn around. All ages of joggers passed me on my way back. I could hardly walk on my date tonight!

I'm impressed. I bought the 30 Day Shred and did it pretty consistently for a few weeks. But never every day. And definitely not for 30 days. I love to walk and run outside, but I get soooo bored doing the same workout every day. It seems to get longer and slower the more I do it. Sounds like you have the same problem, so I'm impressed that you made this goal and followed through. GOOD FOR YOU!!! Doesn't it feel good to accomplish a fitness goal?
